A Hot August Weekend at a Bay Area Swim Meet

This was a classic hot summer weekend in early August 2014, spent on a crowded pool deck for a swim meet. The signage on the blue tents indicates this was at the Las Trampas pool, somewhere in the Bay Area. The sun was intense, lighting up the water to a bright, inviting turquoise under a clear sky.

The entire place was buzzing with activity. The deck was packed with young swimmers, coaches, and family members. People sought shade where they could find it, mostly under pop-up tents along the edges of the facility. You can see the kids lining up on the bright yellow starting blocks, getting last-minute advice from coaches before their races.

It was a chaotic but organized scene. There's a certain energy to these summer league events—a mix of community gathering and focused competition. Everyone seemed to be focused on the lanes, waiting for the next heat to start. It was a day defined by the bright sun, the blue water, and the crowd.
