A Late August Weekend at Home in Tahoe
Just a regular weekend at home, late August 2016. The weather was classic Sierra summer—bright sun, clear blue skies, and that distinct scent of pine in the warm air. Our place is a rustic log cabin, tucked away among the tall trees, and it feels pretty settled in its surroundings.
From up here, the view opens up over the rolling hills and forested valleys. You can see for miles, looking down on the scattered rooftops nestled in the trees below and out towards the distant mountains. It's a quiet, expansive landscape that changes with the light throughout the day.
The lake is a constant presence from the house. You see it through gaps in the pines, sparkling under the sun. There's a road between us and the shore, so you get glimpses of cars passing by, a reminder of the everyday activity happening nearby. It’s not a secluded spot, but a familiar view of the water, a backdrop to the end of another summer.
