A Late February Day Deep in the Tahoe Snow
It was late February 2017, and the snowpack around Tahoe was immense. Just stepping outside the house felt like an expedition. The icicles hanging from the roof were enormous, and the snow was piled so high the dogs could tunnel through it, disappearing completely into the drifts.
My daughter was eager to get out and play. She grabbed her pink sled, and we spent some time just messing around in the deep powder near the house. The sun was out, but the air was still cold and crisp. Just a perfect day for enjoying the conditions.
Later, we went for a walk through the forest. The sky was a brilliant blue, with a few white clouds scattered around. Every branch on the pine trees was heavily weighted down with fresh snow, creating a quiet, peaceful landscape. We followed a path that eventually led us alongside a dark, cold-looking river cutting a path through the white banks.
It was one of those simple, perfect winter days at home – nothing grand, just a lot of snow, sunshine, and time spent outside.
