Late January Days Buried in the Snow

We spent the last week of January 2017 up in the mountains during a period of incredible snowfall. The cabin was almost completely buried, with just a narrow path dug out to the door. Everything was covered in a deep, quiet blanket of white. Even houses across the way looked like they were being swallowed by the drifts.

After the storm passed, the skies cleared up to a brilliant blue. We took the opportunity to get out and go skiing. The conditions were perfect, with fresh powder on the slopes and mountains stretching out in every direction. Driving was an experience in itself, with the roads carved between massive snowbanks taller than the car.
