Late June on the Water at Tahoe
Late June and we got out on the water at Tahoe, which by this point in the month means bright sun by mid-morning and a chop that picks up as the day goes. The lake was clear enough near shore to see straight down to the bottom, then that deep blue further out.
The kid wore the puddle-jumper vest all afternoon, hair wet and blown sideways every direction, refusing to come in. A gull came skimming low right past us at one point, wings almost touching the surface. A lone sailboat worked its way up the far side and never seemed to get anywhere against the wind.
Snow still hanging on in a couple of the high spots across the water, even now.
