A Late May Evening Drive Out by the Creek
I took the Jeep out for a drive on the evening of May 30th. The clouds looked dramatic and I wanted to see what the light was doing as the sun went down. I ended up driving some of the dirt trails around one of the local reservoirs.
The light kept changing, breaking through the cloud cover in intense patches. It lit up the grassy fields and the small creek that was winding through the dry, rocky lakebed. The water is definitely low for this time of year, but there was still a decent flow in the main channel.
I parked for a bit and just watched the weather shift over the hills. The whole landscape was quiet. As the sun finally dropped behind the ridge, it backlit the pines, creating these dark silhouettes against the last light in the sky. It was a simple, nice way to end the day.
