A Late Summer Day Overlooking the Lake
Made a day trip out of the Bay Area back on September 23, 2011. We ended up at a house with an incredible view, looking down over the massive expanse of a high Sierra lake. The building itself was tucked right into the hillside, surrounded by a dense, dark green forest of pines that went on for miles.
The water was a deep, calm blue that stretched to a hazy line of mountains on the far shore. You could just make out a few boats on the water if you looked hard enough. The sky was mostly clear with just a few high, scattered clouds, giving us great visibility across the entire basin. It was a classic late summer day in the mountains—bright, clear, and quiet.
The panoramic view from that vantage point was immense. The evergreen forest just carpeted the landscape, running all the way down to the rocky shoreline. It was a good place to just stand and take in the scale of it all before making the drive home.
