A Summer Afternoon of Play at Home
Just a regular summer afternoon at home in the Bay Area, back in July of 2011. The girls were in that phase of constant motion, turning any piece of furniture into a stage or a mountain to be climbed. There was a lot of undirected, chaotic energy that could be fun to capture.
This day's set pieces were these woven poufs. They immediately became pedestals for performance. Decked out in their favorite cartoon dresses—Hello Kitty for the older one, Dora the Explorer for the younger—they took turns balancing, holding hands, and negotiating their shared space. It was a whole little world they created right there in the living room.
There was so much laughter. The light from the window was bright and they just kept going, striking poses with arms outstretched, then collapsing into giggles. It wasn't anything special, just one of those simple, unscripted moments that fill the quiet hours of a day at home.
