A Late Summer Evening by the Water in Tahoe
A late afternoon in August down by the water in Tahoe. The sky was clear blue with just a few thin clouds, and the lake was perfectly calm. You could see all the way across to the mountains on the other side. The water level seemed low, exposing a wide, rocky shoreline where a river or creek flowed out into the main body of the lake.
As the sun started to get lower, the kids went out to play in the shallow water. They spent their time wading from rock to rock, just enjoying the cool water on a warm evening. It was one of those simple, unplanned moments that define the end of summer.
The light faded quickly once the sun dropped behind the treeline, leaving the landscape in silhouette. The last glow was just a hint above the dark pines, reflecting on the surface of the water. Even the dog seemed to be making the most of it, splashing around in the shallows. A quiet end to a summer day.
