Skiing Through the Miracle March Storm in Tahoe
Mid-March 2018 brought what everyone was calling 'Miracle March' to Lake Tahoe. We got hit with a massive storm system that just buried everything. The first order of business was just digging a path from the door, and then finding my car under a few feet of fresh powder.
After a lot of shoveling, I made it up to the mountain for the day. It was still snowing hard, and it was cold enough on the lift that my beard collected a solid layer of ice. By the end of the first few runs, it was completely frozen over, which made for some good selfies.
The conditions were incredible, just deep and soft everywhere you went. The ice beard lasted all the way back to the car. Back at the house that night, the snow was still piled over the railings on the deck, completely covering everything.
The next morning, it was quiet outside. Just watched a Steller's Jay at the bird feeder and looked out at the neighborhood, completely transformed by the storm.
