A Summer Day in Chicago, July 2005
We spent a weekend in Chicago back in early July of 2005. The first day started out completely overcast as we walked through the then-new Millennium Park. We crossed over the serpentine BP Pedestrian Bridge, which offered great views of the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the surrounding skyline under the grey sky.
We took a break from the crowds and the striking architecture for a quick photo in one of the more secluded garden areas, surrounded by lush green plants and summer flowers.
Later in the day, the clouds finally broke and we were treated to some sun. From wherever we were staying, we had a great vantage point looking out over Lake Shore Drive toward the beach and Navy Pier. The water was a deep blue against the sandy shoreline.
As evening approached, the light got soft over Lake Michigan. The day ended with a classic view looking straight down a canyon of high-rises, watching the traffic move far below as the city lights started to come on.
