Early April Weekend by the Coast

A vast marina filled with boats, coastal landscape, distant mountains, and a dramatic cloudy sky.

We drove down the coast for the weekend, arriving on Friday afternoon, April 5th. The sky was full of dramatic, heavy clouds as we looked out over the harbor from the hills. The whole marina, packed with boats, was sitting under this moody gray light.

The cloud cover broke just in time for sunset. We headed down to the beach and watched the sun drop below the horizon, lighting up the waves and the houses perched on the cliffs. It was a completely different feel from just a few hours earlier.

Saturday was the opposite—bright, sunny, with clear blue skies. We spent part of the day walking around the marina itself, right down on the docks among the boats. It’s always interesting to see them all up close.

That evening, we had dinner out. The palm trees were lit up against the night sky, and you could see the city lights across the water. It was a great way to wind down the day with family.
