Spring Skiing at Palisades Tahoe

Snow-covered ground and evergreen trees overlook a large lake with distant snow-capped mountains under a blue sky.

Spring skiing at Palisades today, which meant fleece instead of a shell and soft snow by mid-morning. Bluebird all day, not a lift line worth mentioning that I noticed.

We kept going back to the runs on the lake side, mostly for the view — the whole length of Tahoe laid out below, Mount Rose still fully white on the far shore. You can see how much snow is left up high everywhere after this winter; the ridgelines toward Granite Chief are still buried, even with brown patches starting to show under the trees on the lower slopes.

Stopped at the top of one run long enough to get a selfie of the two of us with the lake behind, goggles pushed up, both of us squinting. The groomers held up well early but by the last couple of runs everything was getting sticky in the sun. We called it before it turned to full mashed potatoes.
