A Perfect Summer Day on Lake Tahoe

We got out on the water from Tahoe Vista on Saturday. The conditions were just about perfect. The sky was a brilliant, deep blue with just a few puffy clouds, and the lake had that signature cobalt color. Looking toward the western shore, you could still see patches of snow clinging to the peaks, a reminder of the winter melt.

It was a great day to just cruise. We had a full boat with friends and family. The sun was strong, but the air still had that cool mountain edge to it as we motored along the shoreline, making our way south.

The scenery around Emerald Bay is always something else. We passed the rocky points covered in pines and firs, watching the granite faces of the mountains rise up from the forest. The water's color changes dramatically as you get into the shallower parts of the bay, shifting from deep blue to a bright, clear turquoise.

We spent a few hours out there just soaking it in. On the way back north, we passed the Tahoe Gal paddle-wheeler chugging along near the shore. It felt like a classic Tahoe summer day from start to finish.
