Wildflowers in July
A quiet stretch of days here in Truckee. I've been watching the garden. Things are hitting their peak for early July, with the daisies completely taking over the rocks around our Buddha statue. They're wild and leggy, reaching for the sun.
The light changes everything up here. In the morning, it catches the lupine and makes them glow. By midday, it's harsh and direct, beating down on the pine needles and the single tough poppy that found a crack between the stones. It’s a quiet kind of drama.
Later in the day, the softer light returns. I’ve been enjoying the yard this week—the patches of white and pink clover, the clusters of yarrow in the meadow grass, and the potentilla bush that's just covered in little yellow flowers. It's nice having a break, watching things grow and relaxing in the sun.
