A Quick April Trip to Amsterdam's Museumplein
We spent a couple of days in early April around Amsterdam's Museumplein. The main event was the Rijksmuseum, which had a huge banner for its 'High Society' exhibition. The building itself is incredible, but the research library inside was the most striking part—the scale of it, with the arched ceiling, skylight, and walls lined with books.
Outside was another story. The plaza was full of people, especially around the 'I amsterdam' sign. It was a complete scramble of tourists climbing on the letters for photos. We got a few pictures in the crowd before the kids needed a break. Luckily there was a small playground just off to the side, and they were happy to just swing for a while under a patch of sun.
We also walked across the green to the Van Gogh Museum. The architecture is so different, very modern and geometric compared to its neighbor. The weather was classic for spring, shifting between gray clouds and bright sun. It was a quick trip, but we managed to see the big landmarks on the square.
