A Quiet Afternoon of Playtime at Home
Just a regular Thursday at home in the Bay Area, back in July of 2007. The camera was out, as it often was, capturing the small moments that made up our days.
She sat on the floor in front of the big, plush blue chair, a familiar fixture in our living room. Her little white dress with the red bows and sailboats felt summery and cheerful. At first, she just looked at me, taking in the world with those wide, curious eyes, before breaking into a smile.
The floor was her domain, scattered with books, a wooden train, and other treasures. She spent some time with a bright, soft activity toy before turning her full attention to the wooden toy chest and its contents.
She pulled out a large red book and seemed completely absorbed for a while. Then, just as quickly, she turned back to me, holding it up like a prize. It was just a simple, quiet afternoon of play on the carpet, but these are the moments that stick.
