An Afternoon at Home, Late August 2007

Just another day at home at the end of August. I spent some time on the floor with my camera, trying to capture these fleeting expressions. The light was just whatever was coming through the window, but those big brown eyes are something else.

Our old cat was surprisingly patient with the new family member. They sat side-by-side for a while, the baby grinning and the cat just sort of enduring it all. It's a classic baby-and-pet scene, happening right here on our living room carpet.

She was wearing this striped onesie that seemed to be in constant rotation back then. This was the era of learning to move. The day was mostly spent like this: sitting, smiling, and then pushing up to crawl across the floor, looking up every so often to make sure I was still watching.
