A Quiet Easter Sunday at Home
We spent Easter at home in Tahoe on the last day of March. I set the table that morning, laying out the patterned plates and teal napkins. It felt good to see it all ready, with a bowl of dyed eggs in the center. Outside the window, there was still snow on the ground, but inside it felt warm and ready for a celebration.
Before we ate, the novelty bunny glasses came out. It's become a bit of a tradition. We passed them around, taking turns posing for photos against the wood-paneled walls. It's these simple, goofy moments that you end up remembering the most from any holiday gathering.
The main event was dinner, which we cooked out on the grill despite the lingering chill. We had a row of steaks on either side of a big piece of cedar-plank salmon. It was a simple meal, but a good one. A quiet holiday at home with family was exactly right.
