A Quiet March Day Around the House

March 1st, 2009. Just a quiet day at home here in the Bay Area. The sky was overcast, which cast a flat, even light over everything. I spent some time outside with the camera, just documenting the neighborhood as early spring started to show up.

The flowering trees were the main event, covered in white blossoms before their leaves have fully come in. It’s that brief period where everything feels like it's waking up. The lawns were impossibly green from the winter rain, and some bright red bushes provided a sharp contrast to the green and the pale yellow of the house.

It's a pretty typical suburban scene. My car in the driveway, neighbors' houses visible over the fences. Everything is neat and tidy—the lawns are mowed, the bushes are trimmed, potted plants are arranged just so. It’s the quiet architecture of a regular neighborhood on a regular Sunday afternoon. Nothing spectacular happening, just observing the slow change of the season in my own backyard.
