A Farm Visit and Views From the East Bay Hills
We spent a weekend afternoon in late March out at a local farm with the kids. It was one of those perfect spring days, sunny but not too warm. The kids were completely absorbed by the animals, pressing up to the fences to get a closer look at everything.
They spent a long time watching a very patient black sheep, who seemed just as curious about them. There were also some tiny piglets, one spotted and one black-and-white, which were a definite highlight. The whole place had that distinct, earthy farm smell.
At one point, a staff member brought out a flock of geese, and a small crowd gathered to watch them. The geese were loud and assertive, flapping their wings as they moved around the enclosure, which was a bit of a spectacle for everyone there.
Afterwards, we took a drive up into the hills overlooking the bay. From up there, the view was incredible. You could see the whole East Bay spread out below, with the Bay Bridge stretching across to San Francisco. The city skyline was visible through a light haze, with the water and mountains in the distance. It was a simple day, but a good one.
