October at Home with the New Kittens
Didn't go anywhere today, and didn't need to — the new kittens are still enough of a show that a gray October afternoon in Grand Rapids goes by fast just watching them.
They spent most of it piled on the leather couch, the black-and-white one draped over the gray one, then both flattened out asleep with their legs stretched into each other. The gray one has pink pads that don't match anything else about her. Every so often one would crack an eye at me and go right back under.
The black-and-white one got a bath in the tub before all that napping, which she did not appreciate. Soaked down she looks about half her size, all ears and whiskers, and she gave me a look I probably deserved. She dried off sulking and then forgave everything within the hour, back on the couch like nothing happened.
The couch is already theirs. I'm not sure when that vote was held.
