A Rock Star Birthday and a Weekend at the Pumpkin Patch

We had a full weekend in mid-October back in 2013. It started with a birthday party at the house, which quickly turned into a karaoke rock concert. We set up a small stage in the living room, complete with a microphone, a laptop for the lyrics, and a 'Happy Birthday' banner strung up as a backdrop.

All the kids got into character. There were costumes ranging from a ninja to kids with colorful prop guitars. They huddled around the mic, taking turns singing along with the songs playing on the laptop. It was a chaotic, high-energy performance, with the whole scene lit by the afternoon sun coming through the windows.

The next day, we shifted gears to something a bit quieter. We went out to a local pumpkin patch to enjoy the clear autumn weather. My daughter, wearing a funny purple monster hat she was very into at the time, found a seat on a stack of hay bales. She sat there for a while, perfectly content in the bright sun, surrounded by a huge assortment of pumpkins and gourds.
