A Saturday Morning for Kids' Soccer in the Bay Area

Saturday, September 14th, 2013. This was the scene at a local field somewhere in the Bay Area. It was a classic weekend morning for youth sports, with parents lining the sidelines and a group of kids chasing a soccer ball across a slightly uneven, but very green, field.

The game was mostly a swarm of blue and white uniforms following the ball wherever it went. There's a certain kind of organized chaos to kids' soccer at this age. Everyone runs hard, sometimes in the same direction, sometimes not. The main objective seems to be simply staying near the action.

The weather was bright and sunny, just a standard late summer day here. Amidst the pack running back and forth, I managed to catch a few moments of individual effort, a single player breaking away just for a second to line up a kick. It's a day made up of these small, fleeting moments.
