A Saturday Afternoon with the Record Player
Not much to report from this Saturday in mid-February. It's Grand Rapids, so it's cold, and the light outside is that flat gray you get all winter. A perfect day to stay in and put some records on.
There's something satisfying about the whole process. Pulling the vinyl from the sleeve, setting it on the platter, and dropping the needle. I spent some time just watching it go around, trying to capture the motion with the camera. The sepia tones felt right for the mood, kind of timeless and warm against the cold day.
The turntable itself has this little red light that glows when it's on. In one shot, it casts this intense reflection on the spinning vinyl, a sharp contrast to the otherwise muted tones of the room and the stereo equipment. Just a small moment of color on an otherwise gray afternoon.
