A Saturday Afternoon with the Record Player

A Saturday afternoon with the record player, and not much else on the schedule — which was the point. Away from home, no errands pulling at anything, so the afternoon went to sides of vinyl instead.

The Technics did the work. One record on with a plain white label, then another with a dull red one, the tonearm dropped in and left alone until it hit the runout. The old receiver next to the platter has more knobs than I could account for, and a small red lamp on the deck glowed against the edge of the record while it turned.

I couldn't tell you everything that got played, only that the stack next to the table got shorter and nobody moved to put anything back in its sleeve. Daylight went while side after side ran down. The last one was still spinning on the label when I finally got up.
