A Saturday Morning at a Bay Area Swim Meet
A bright Saturday in early June, the kind that feels like the official start of summer. We spent the day at a local community pool for a swim meet. The deck was a sea of pop-up tents and umbrellas, with families camped out for the long haul. Kids in colorful suits and caps were everywhere.
The energy around the starting blocks was a mix of nervous excitement and focus. The pool was a brilliant blue under the clear sky, with the yellow and blue lane lines stretching out. It was a classic suburban summer scene, full of chatter and the splashes of swimmers hitting the water.
I managed to catch a few photos of the action in the pool. One of the youngest swimmers, just a flash of a yellow swim cap and orange goggles, paddled their way across the lane. A moment later, they were holding onto the brick edge of the pool, catching their breath. It was a long, warm day of short, intense races.
