A Week by the Lake in Early July

Spent a week up by the lake in early July. The days are long and the evenings are quiet. The first night ended with the sun dipping behind the hills, leaving a warm glow on the water as all the boats settled in their docks.

Most days we spent hiking around the hills overlooking the bay. The air is clear and the sun is bright. From the trails, you can watch the boat traffic crisscrossing the deep blue water far below. We passed a waterfall, still running strong from the snowmelt, on our way up to a rocky overlook near the small island in the bay.

For a different perspective, we took the gondola up the mountain. It's a strange feeling, floating silently over the trees. From that high up, you can see the whole layout of the south shore, the distant snow still clinging to the peaks across the water, and just how massive the lake really is. It gives you a true sense of the scale of the place.

The whole area is just a collection of these huge landscapes—water, forest, and rock. Even after a few days, it’s hard to take it all in. The air gets hazy in the distance, and the valleys and ridges just keep going.
