A Snowy Thanksgiving Week Photographing Family

A black and white outdoor group portrait shows two adults and four children smiling in front of blurred trees.

Getting a large, multi-generational group together for portraits is always a fun kind of chaos. We found a great spot in the woods and managed to get everyone lined up for a few photos in the crisp, cold air.

After the main session, we took a walk along a nearby shore. The ground was a mix of mud and melting snow, but the kids and the dog didn't mind. With mountains in the distance, it was a beautiful spot for some more casual photos as they explored and splashed in the shallow water.

My favorite moments are always the unposed ones. The candid shots of a grandfather getting a kiss, or a father tossing his smiling daughter into the air. That’s what it feels like when family gets together.
