A Toddler's Christmas at Home, 2008
Flipping through photos from Christmas week back in 2008. Our daughter was completely mesmerized by the tree that year, standing next to it in her green velvet dress, just taking in all the lights and ornaments. The glow from the string lights made the whole living room feel warm and quiet.
She was very serious about helping decorate. I remember watching her stand by the brick fireplace, carefully reaching out to place an ornament on a branch, her face a mask of concentration. She would move them around, finding just the right spot for each one. We have a lot of photos of her just like this, carefully curating her section of the tree.
After the decorating was done, we sat together in a chair pulled up close to the tree. She seems so content here, just being held and looking at the lights. These quiet, simple moments at home are the ones that really define the holidays for me. Just being together in the warm glow of the Christmas tree.
