A Bluebird Ski Day Out in Tahoe
Got out for a solo ski day in mid-January. The conditions were just about perfect—not a cloud in the sky and bright sun, which made for some intense reflections in my goggles. It felt great to be out on the mountain and moving, taking it all in.
The visibility was incredible. From one of the upper ridges, the view of Lake Tahoe was completely unobstructed. The water was a deep, calm blue, set against the snow-covered peaks of the Carson Range on the far side. The air was crisp and clear.
Aside from the classic lake views, I spent time just looking at the immediate landscape around the resort. The granite peaks jutting out from the snow, with ski tracks winding down the bowls. Below, dense pine forests covered the lower slopes. It's a familiar sight, but it always feels different depending on the light and the day. A solid day spent outside before heading home.
