A Weekend Patio Haul in Carlsbad
A weekend haul for the patio and house, and the back of the car proved it: two big Talavera urns with tags that say hand-painted in Spain, a smaller green pot in the same style, a punched-tin lantern, a rattan hurricane, a galvanized watering can, and a rolled white rug wedged behind the headrests. All of it came from the garden center on Paseo Del Norte here in Carlsbad — open until six, so no rush, though fitting the second urn in took some rearranging.
Back at the house the unloading turned into arranging: the orange rug went down first, then the plant stand and lantern got sorted into the corner by the door. The mandevilla went into the standing planter by the front step. The green pot got planted with kalanchoes, African daisies, and something orange the tag called star of Bethlehem.
The dog tested the woven lounger before anyone else could and stayed there through most of the work, propped against the blue pillow like it had been bought for her.
