A Wreck-It Ralph Themed Backyard Birthday Party

This was from a mid-July afternoon back in 2013. We were celebrating a birthday and had set everything up in the backyard. The weather was perfect for it, sunny and warm. We strung up handmade banners made of fabric scraps and crepe paper in shades of pink and teal, crisscrossing them over the food table.

The theme was Wreck-It Ralph, centered on the character Vanellope von Schweetz. The cupcakes were the main event, of course. I remember making them with bright teal and pink frosting and plenty of sprinkles to match the decorations. Each one had a little paper topper with a character from the movie.

Besides the sweets, we kept the food simple. Just classic party snacks that could hold up in the summer heat: a big bowl of tortilla chips and salsa, fresh watermelon slices, baby carrots, and a tub full of iced drinks. It was a simple, colorful setup for a relaxed celebration.
