An October Walk By The Lake Near Home

A couple of days at home in early October, just a normal stretch. The weather was classic for the season, with big, puffy clouds moving across a bright blue sky. I took the dog out for a walk by the lake to stretch our legs.

The foliage around the water was at its peak, all golden-yellow against the calm water. You could see the first dusting of snow on the mountains in the distance, which always feels like a definite marker that the season is about to turn.

We wandered away from the shore and up into the dry, grassy fields. The dog was happy just sniffing his way through the brush. He found a good spot in some tall grass for a rest. It was quiet and still out there, just a standard walk, but it's always good to get out and see the fall colors before they're gone.
