Decorating for Christmas Before Thanksgiving in 2020

It was November 22nd, 2020. It seemed like everyone was getting a jump on the holiday season, and we were right there with them. Our front yard turned into a small festival of inflatables. By day, a green dragon holding a mug sat next to a massive Santa Claus. Two 'NOEL' candles flanked the walkway to the front gate.

Once dusk hit, the whole scene transformed. The house was bathed in projected colored lights, and all the figures glowed from within. It was a lot, but it was undeniably cheerful.

Inside, preparations were underway for a different holiday. The refrigerator was stocked for Thanksgiving, which was just a few days away. You can see the main course wrapped and waiting on the top shelf. Meanwhile, the kitchen counter was in its usual state of controlled chaos: mail to be sorted, my wireless earbuds, and other bits of daily life.

The day ended with a quiet moment out back by the pool. The air was cool, and the lights from the houses on the distant hill were beginning to switch on. It was a calm contrast to the festive scene out front.
