Easter Sunday at Home, March 2005

An Easter celebration at home in late March, 2005. The day revolved around the kitchen, starting with dyeing eggs. We covered the island with newspaper to try and contain the inevitable mess of dye and water.

The whole family was over, and we paused to get a group photo by the big window in the living room. You can see there's still a bit of snow on the ground outside, just starting to melt. It was one of those bright, early spring days.

After that, the day settled into a comfortable chaos. In the kitchen, the women gathered around the sink, preparing food and washing up. Meanwhile, some of us started tossing the newly dyed eggs back and forth, seeing how durable they were. The kids were fascinated by the bright colors.

It was a pretty typical holiday get-together for us. A full house, lots of conversations happening at once, and everyone eventually ending up in the kitchen. A simple, busy day with family.
