Rainbow Over Lake Alamo
A squall blew through this afternoon and left a rainbow standing over the lake. I watched it through the window at first, the glass still covered in rain, one end of it dropping straight down into the water near the far shore.
It kept changing. For a while it thinned out to almost nothing against the cloud over the ridge, and I figured that was it, but then it came back stronger than before — a wide band you could pick every color out of, planted right in the whitecaps. The wind had the whole lake chopped up.
Once the rain let up I went out on the deck for a better look. It held the whole time, arcing up over the pines while a truck went by on the road below.
