Kayaking a Tahoe Lake in Mid-June

It was a perfect, clear day in mid-June of 2017. The sun was strong, but there was still a good amount of snow clinging to the mountains surrounding the lake. It's always a nice contrast, feeling the summer heat on the water while looking at the last bits of winter up high.

We spent the afternoon out on the water, mostly in kayaks. My daughter was in the red kayak, sometimes with me, sometimes taking a turn paddling. The lake was a deep blue under the cloudless sky, and the pine-covered hills on the shore were a deep, dark green. The water was pretty calm for the most part, just a little surface chop from a light breeze.

I also took a turn on a stand-up paddleboard. It's a different perspective, standing up and looking across the lake towards the snow-capped peaks. The water was clear enough to see the bottom near the shore. We saw a few other paddlers out, but it wasn't overly crowded.

Just a simple day enjoying the lake. No big plan, just paddling around and soaking in the sun and the scenery. A classic Tahoe summer afternoon.
