A Few Days of June Snow and Sunsets
Back home for a stretch in mid-June, and the weather was all over the place. I woke up one morning to a fresh dusting of snow on everything. It was weird seeing the balcony chairs and the pine trees coated in white when summer is supposed to be just around the corner. The lake looked dark and choppy under a heavy grey sky. My van was parked down on the road, looking like it was bracing for winter again.
The chill stuck around into the evening, so a fire felt necessary. We just sat around the fire pit in the dark, watching the embers burn down. It was quiet and cold.
And then, as if to make up for the strange snow, the sunsets for the next couple of nights were incredible. The sky just exploded with color after the sun went down behind the mountains. Intense pinks and purples filled the clouds and reflected perfectly on the calm water. It was one of those light shows that doesn't look real, but you're standing right there watching it. A good reminder of how quickly things change up here.
