Music, Pool Time, September Sunset at Home

Four illuminated patio umbrellas, one submerged in a pool, overlooking distant city lights at night.

A whole day without leaving the house, which suited everybody fine. Morning went to records — pulled the Hendrix Monterey album out, the Pink Floyd double, some Bill Evans from the basket. The old Sonos gear on the dresser still does its job.

Afternoon was pool time. The girls floated around on noodles for a good stretch while I mostly stayed dry. The dog got me instead, one long lick across the face when I sat down in the car for a minute.

The sun went down orange and hazy behind the hill — you could look right at it, which is never a great sign in September around here. Somebody's Crocs were still sitting on the pool ledge when it got dark. The umbrella lights came on and threw a white hexagon down onto the water, and we left them going a while.

Sonos audio devices sit on a dark surface next to three vinyl records including Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and Bossa Nova.A metal wire basket holds several vinyl records, with "Bill Evans Portrait in Jazz" prominently displayed. An open dark wooden cabinet drawer holds three sections of vinyl records, including M83 and DESTROY ROCK & ROLL.A white refrigerator is covered with numerous colorful travel magnets, with a wooden shelf and concrete floor in the background.A person with closed eyes is being licked on the face by a blurry dog, indoors or in a vehicle. Two people in a blue swimming pool, one wearing a visor, with a water bottle and houses in the background.A blue pool float reflects an orange sunset seen through a black fence with string lights and white slippers.Bright sunburst between dark vertical bars and a line of green plants, with a light umbrella and an orange sky.
