Quiet Mid-October Days by the Water
Just a few days up here in mid-October. The weather was holding, clear and calm, which isn't always a given this time of year. The lake has been almost completely still, especially in the mornings. The beaches are empty, just sand and incredibly clear water.
I spent most of the time just walking around. The sun was low and sharp, casting these long rays over the ridges in the afternoon. There are hints of yellow in the aspens, but mostly it's just the deep green of the pines against a very blue sky. The creeks and smaller ponds are quiet, reflecting the granite peaks.
Evenings have been quick and cold, but the sunsets are simple and clean. Just a bit of color on the horizon before the sky goes dark. It’s been a pretty quiet, uneventful stretch, which is exactly what it was supposed to be. Just watching the light change on the water.
