Views from Victoria Peak During a Trip to Hong Kong
I was in Hong Kong in mid-October for a work event. The conference was held in a huge, dark auditorium, packed with people watching the speakers on massive screens under dramatic red lighting. It was an impressive setup.
After the sessions, I had some time to explore. The city is full of surprising sights, like a full-sized, brightly-lit pirate ship functioning as a restaurant, which I came across one evening.
My main excursion was a trip up to Victoria Peak. The wait for the classic red tram was long, with a big crowd lined up along the platform, but it seemed like a required experience. From the top, the view of the city, framed by a traditional archway, was expansive, even through the haze. It's one of those places where you really get a sense of the scale of the city below.
What surprised me was the landscape just a short walk away from the viewing platforms. The trail led through lush, green hills, with glimpses of the ocean in the distance. It was a quiet, natural contrast to the dense urban environment just below.
