A Day of Music and Nature at Interlochen
I spent a day at Interlochen on June 21st. Arriving on campus, you're immediately surrounded by tall pines. One of the first things I saw was the iconic bear statue, a classic photo spot before walking the paved paths that wind through the grounds.
The campus is a mix of rustic cabins and more modern architecture, all nestled among the trees. I passed a small, well-kept garden with a pond on my way to the main destination for the day: Corson Auditorium. The weather was overcast, which kept things cool for walking around.
Inside, I found a seat for a performance. The stage was filled with an impressive array of percussion instruments—marimbas, drums, gongs, and more. It was interesting to see it all set up before the audience filled in.
After the show, I explored the grounds a bit more as the afternoon light faded. The paths lead past rows of cabins and open grassy areas, one with a volleyball net set up. The day ended with a quiet view of the lake, looking out from between the trees along the shore. A calm end to a full day.
