A Lakeside Wedding in West Michigan, August 2003
This was our wedding day, in the first week of August 2003. We found a spot in West Michigan with a dock right on the water, which is where we decided to have the ceremony. The day was bright and sunny, typical for that time of year here.
We stood under a large floral archway for the whole thing. It was covered in greenery and a mix of white, yellow, and orange flowers. You can see the water and the trees on the far shore in the background of nearly every photo. The light was direct and created some sharp shadows on the wooden planks of the dock.
After the ceremony, we took our portraits right there under the arch, and then a few more in a nearby garden that was full of colorful flowers. The bride and her bridesmaids also gathered for photos by the water. They all wore long, strapless dresses and carried their own bouquets. It was a simple, outdoor wedding, centered entirely around that dock on the lake.
